THANK GOD. That prayer can be full of fireworks!
Broadway is reviving a very popular musical this year. “Fiddler on the Roof”. Its signature song, “Tradition” is so meaningful on this July 4th weekend.
Families and friends are celebrating the freedom won by men and women of the armed forces. God bless all who have served this country so well.
Tradition speaks to history. Family traditions remind people of great history: their grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts etc. We are products of great history.
On our Mission Trip to Rome, we were so honored to be in the presence of the successor to St. Peter, Pope Francis. We were reminded of the history of the Church and how we are a part of that.
We were privileged to be in the presence of the successor to St. Vincent de Paul, Very Rev. Gregory Gay, CM, Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission. Again we were reminded of the history of the Vincentians and how we are a part of that. Continue to stay connected to the Vincentian Parish Mission.
So this is a weekend to be reminded of our great history as a country, church and family. Let the traditions we have speak for them. Let them remind us of our storied history and let us pause and THANK GOD. That prayer can be full of fireworks!
