Sometimes you have to create your own sunshine.
Even though we are finally enjoying the rite of spring… flowers growing, hummingbirds are back, grass is greener, sun is brighter and sky is bluer, we still seem to hunger for something.
I gave a talk on “What are you looking for?” and I think I was talking to myself. Anyway, May is the month of Mary, our blessed Mother.
So many people during missions ask about where are we in the church with respect to devotion to Mary. Some non-Catholics continue to wonder why we pray to Mary and so on.
All I know is that wherever Mary has appeared, whether in Mexico, Fatima, Lourdes, Ireland, Japan or Medjugorje, the message has always been the same…”Faith, Prayer, Fasting, Conversion and Peace.”
The one item I reflect on most is Conversion. Conversion is not going from bad to good. We are good people. Conversion is going from good to GREAT. What do I need to do in my life to be called GREAT in the eyes of God?
For me it is patience with drivers. So, I’m working on that. What about you? What do you need to do to be called GREAT in the eyes of God?
My prayer for you is one of joy, peace and happiness.
Sometimes things don’t always go the way we would like. Friends move on or even die and the pain is great. If Mary were living here today, I think she might say this to us when we are in pain or don’t see the joy and beauty of spring, “Sometimes you have to create your own sunshine.” Have a great day.
