A farmer in Kansas looks at that wheat field and it is like gold to him. Not too long ago, my brother and I were going to Southwest Kansas and saw so many of these beautiful fields. We talk often how we are so blessed in this country to see such different kinds of beautiful sights. In the gospel at Mass today, Jesus used a field to describe what Heaven was like. He said it was like someone finding a treasure in a field and then selling everything he had to buy the field. The treasure was that good. Heaven is the treasure we await and it is there for the taking.
Our prayers of thanksgiving (especially the Eucharist) are to a God who had His Son suffer and die so we could have that treasure, the ticket to Heaven. It’s nice to think that beautiful field we see in Kansas also provides the bread for our Eucharist. Let us continue to live wanting that treasure and doing what God wants so we can have it!
