“Don’t give Up”
Today is the feast day of St. Josaphat. He was born in the Ukraine of Orthodox parents. Their influence encouraged him to become a Basilian monk.
He eventually became a bishop of what is now Belarus. While bishop, he joined five other bishops in seeking union with Rome. Most monks fearing interference in liturgy and customs, wanted no part of a union with Rome and fought with Josaphat all the time which finally led to his martyrdom.
I will remember him today as one who never gave up on what he believed to be right and good, for the whole church. It’s just nice to read stories about people like Josaphat.
