“Thanks, Doc!”
Many are thinking about the big Super Bowl game coming up this weekend and I hope your team wins. Make sure you watch all the commercials. I always hope the Budweiser Clydesdale Horses are featured.
My reflection is on yesterday’s feast day of St. Blaise. The Eastern Church celebrates his feast next week. I remember as a child how this feast was so important because of the blessing of throats given on this feast of St. Blaise.
St. Blaise was a bishop in Armenia but he was also a physician. Because he wouldn’t deny his faith, he was arrested and the legend has it that on his way to prison, a mother stopped him to bless her child who was choking on a fish bone. Bishop Blaise blessed the child and he stopped choking. From then on Bishop Blaise was called upon to bring healing to those suffering, especially those with ailments of the throat.
So, before I get to my Super Bowl pick, I want to thank God for his blessings of healing and for all the doctors he has called to serve me and so many others.
