Spiritual Reflection

This past weekend was the celebration of the famous ‘Golf Cart’ Mass in Grand Beach, Michigan, for the last time this year. My brother joined me for the celebration and shared his thoughts at the homily. We are staying in Grand Beach in a rental property compliments of the owner, Kaye Moriarty.

We have great memories of this house on the shores of Lake Michigan from high school, when we came here for a retreat. It is such a beautiful spot to appreciate the goodness of our God to give us this setting, where we can watch a sunset over a visible Chicago skyline.

We will enjoy our time here to relax and to pray that we never take God’s creation for granted. It will give us time to thank God for all the goodness in our life: our family, our priesthood and ministry, and the many friends we have met and enjoyed spending time with, not the least of which were all the mission cruises on which we sailed together. It will be easy for us to say, “God is Good…all the time.”
