Fr. Bob’s Spiritual Reflection–10/15/2025
“Walk Like Me”
Today is the feast day of St. Teresa of Jesus. Teresa was born in Avila, Spain and was also called St. Teresa of Avila.
She is often pictured with a book, an arrow, and a heart, reflecting her writings, experiences of divine love, and a pierced heart because of her early childhood sinfulness.
Teresa is known for her reformation of the Carmelite Order, emphasizing silence, austerity, and enclosure (cloistered life). She founded 17 convents and with the help of St. John of the Cross, established several monasteries.
She wrote extensively on the meaning of prayer and its importance. An interesting, little known fact, is that she was known as the “walking” saint due to her extensive travels on foot to establish convents and monasteries.
