Spiritual Reflection

Today is the feast day of St. Barnabus.  He was not numbered among the twelve apostles, but he surely fit the description of one.  He was known as a simple man who was filled with the Holy Spirit and faith.  After Paul’s conversion, Barnabus introduced him to Peter and the two of them were responsible for the beginning of the ministry of “spreading the good news of the gospel.”  The conversions to the faith because of the preaching of Paul and Barnabus were numerous, and the church grew because of their dedication.  The name Barnabus meant “son of encouragement.”  Surely that was his personal ministry.

This is a great day for our Mission to celebrate and rededicate ourselves as we continue our preaching ministry conducting Vincentian Parish Missions.  Maybe a good day for all to be people who “encourage” others to be messengers of “Good News.”  A big Thank You to all of you who pray for and support our mission.
