Nobody Wins

On this day, June 18th the war of 1812 began between the United States and Great Britain.  It lasted just under three years.  About 15,000 American casualties and about 9,000 British casualties.  Nobody won the war.  It was a stalemate.  It makes you wonder why we have wars in the first place.  The lesson we should have learned from World War I was that there should not have been World War II, nobody wins in wars.  In the end everybody loses.  I pray that these wars in the Middle East and in Ukraine will end soon.

I am hopeful that our new Pope, Leo XIV will be able to convince leaders that wars hurt everybody and really nobody wins.  We have the Blessed Mother on our side so perhaps we need to ask her to have her Son put an end to this madness.

In the meantime, it is SUMMER and hot in many places but when the sun shines, there’s music, laughter and good red wine.  Enjoy these days and pray that one day we will all live in peace!
