“Can’t notice a need and not do something…”
Today is the feast of St. Cajetan. And I’m always intrigued by saints who established religious orders, like St. Vincent dePaul who founded the order to which I belong.
It seems like, they all saw a need that had to be met, and they did something to respond to that need.
St. Cajetan was a lawyer and worked in the Roman Curia before he was ordained a priest. He was moved to serve the poor and founded the Theatines, an order dedicated to the service of the poor. St. Cajetan’s order were also champions of the need to pray. So Prayer and Service to the poor became the heart of his order.
I think often of the need for all of us to recognize a need in our world and then do something about it. And then to know that without prayer a good response probably would not be made. I also know that I just can’t notice a need and not do something. Saints like St. Vincent and St. Cajetan push me in the right direction. Be ready to do something.
