Our Lady of Loreto
While this is Wednesday of the second week of Advent, it is also the feast day of Our Lady of Loreto.
About six years ago, Pope Francis added this feast to the Roman Calendar. He made it clear that it was not a feast day of Mary but a celebration of the house where Mary grew up in Nazareth. It was transported to Loreto Italy and legend has it that it was brought by angels. There are also some writings about a family named ‘Angeli’ who brought the house by boat to Loreto.
This house is where Mary learned that she was to be the mother of Jesus. What a special place that is preserved! It’s easy to also use this day to remember and honor Mary and also to honor her in a few days on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Hail Mary, Full of Grace….
