Fr. Dick’s Spiritual Reflection–6/3/2026
“June is busting out all over”
The song has a certain ring to it because for many, June is the best month of the year: beginning of early summer, outdoor festivals, graduations, vacations, perfect weather, trees are lush and growing season is underway.
God gives us all this and then expects us to do something special with it. Perhaps we can feel tempted to take a vacation from what we do the best as disciples of Jesus.
We must never forget all our brothers and sisters who don’t feel so good: those who are hungry every day, especially the children, the homeless who are on the streets of our cities, the lonely in nursing homes and hospitals, those who just need a little help.
You have always responded to the needs of others and June is not a time to suspend that ministry. So, thank you for enjoying June, but more importantly, thank you for all you do for our suffering brothers and sisters.
And of course, thanks for your concern and prayers for those ravaged by war, especially in Ukraine. God gave us June but He also gave us YOU and for that we will always be grateful as we enjoy the sunshine of June.
