When was the last time you preached a sermon? And what did you say?

I ask the question because when I say the rosary, I like the Luminous Mysteries Pope John Paul II gave us. They go from The Baptism of Jesus to The Wedding Feast at Cana to The Proclamation of the Good News to The Transfiguration and finally, The Institution of the Eucharist.

The one that is interesting is the Proclamation of the Good News. Jesus did that but He is gone. I think He wants us to do the Proclaiming now.

Recently in the airport in Colorado, a woman had on a black outfit with her shirt emblazoned with this saying, “JESUS IS MY PRINCE OF PEACE.” She wasn’t embarrassed and was proud to wear it. It got a lot of attention. When she got on the plane everyone wanted to help her and all smiled when they saw the shirt.

Maybe we are shy about proclaiming our faith. For example, most people say Grace before meals but not out in public. I wonder why. Jesus is banking on us to be his preachers in the world today. The world needs to hear good news. Gospel means “Good News.”

Many good things happen every day and perhaps very few hear about them. So, let’s be the bearers of good news and proclaim that we are faith-filled people with a great message.
