Fr. Dick’s Spiritual Reflection–7/2/2025
HISTORY IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT
The picture is of Independence Hall in Philadelphia when on this day, July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted to declare independence from Great Britain. Then two days later, they adopted the resolution and that’s why we celebrate our birthday on July 4th .
Also on this day in 1964, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act which prohibits discrimination in all forms. These were two so very important days in our history.
We have great history in the Vincentian Parish Mission Center. For the past 43 years we have had three great administrative assistants: Mary Ann Krogman, M.J. Cornelius and Karen Mayer.
Karen has decided to step down and spend more time with her family and a new winter home in Scottsdale, AZ. But God is so good. We have a new administrative assistant. Our sister Mary Ann has accepted this position. With her background in the banking business and being director of development of a parish in Tucson, she will do well. We are pleased and blessed.
What about our history, especially our Spiritual Journey? Who are all the people who had a part in that? We need to Thank God for them.
