“Lights in a Darkened World”

We have been so blessed with our present and last Pope. Pope Francis was a beacon of hope for all and Pope Leo XIV has given us reason to love being Catholic.

We rely on the Apostles and the Bishops, to follow Pope Leo’s invitation to work for peace and justice and to guide us on that same path. We are a human organization with divine foundation and are fortunate to have Priests who will preside over Eucharist and minister in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

But I believe the heart of our Church lies in our laity. We are so blessed to have such loyal, faith-filled people who follow Christ and make our parishes places of peace, justice and paths to happiness.

This all happened because of the Orders of Religious Women. They formed us and helped make the Church what Jesus wanted it to be. They were in schools, hospitals, nursing homes, homeless shelters and anywhere else the poor lived. They were truly lights in a darkened world. We are in the light today because of them.

Many are now retired and I pray that God gives them joy, peace and happiness for they have fought the good fight, ran the race and now a merited crown awaits them.

P.S. Today would have been our mom’s 109th birthday.
