Fr. Dick’s Spiritual Reflection–7/30/2025
Balance in Health, Prayer and Life
Sixty years ago on this day, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Medicare and Medicaid bill at the Truman Library in Independence, MO. We have been so blessed for these past 60 years to have this needed help.
It always reminds me of those who are so important in the health care ministry, especially nurses. They work hard so that you and I can be healthier. It is indeed a challenge to try to stay as healthy as we can but always know that sometimes there is not a lot we can do so we rely on this needed help.
Doctor Lacy Hall states that if we can reduce stress in our lives, we can stay a bit healthier. He says that there are four quadrants in our lives: Work, Prayer, Leisure and Relationships. When there is a good balance between these four, it seems that there is less stress.
Kind of like having a balance between the four kinds of prayer: Petition, Thanksgiving, Adoration and Sorrow. When there is a balance here, much more peace and joy follow.
Again, thanks to President Johnson for signing into law our Medicare and Medicaid
