Fr. Dick’s Spiritual Reflection 4/25/2025
Pope Francis
We have just witnessed someone celebrating Easter in the most profound way possible. Pope Francis went home to be with his God the day after Easter. He participated as much as he could in the Holy Week ceremonies and on Easter came out on the same balcony as the day He was elected Pope. He gave his message to the world, imparted an Easter blessing and then entered the pope mobile to give his final goodbyes to the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square.
We now thank God for giving him to our church as our shepherd. He fulfilled that role in unprecedented ways as he championed for the poorest of the poor in our world. He will be remembered as the “Peoples Pope.” He was so animated in the presence of children. We will miss him but he gave us the blueprint for keeping Jesus’s church what Jesus intended to be, a haven for all especially those most in need of help. Let us pray for him, our church and the next shepherd God gives us.
Sorry the reflection was late this week, we were having website issues.
