Spiritual Reflection

It seems like everybody is facing very hot days and not sure when relief is coming.

Our western states are experiencing very hot temperatures and it’s hard to see an end. So, we survive somehow. The weather forecasters just tell us to remember that 105 degrees Celsius is 221 Fahrenheit. I suppose that conversion has a short-term relief.

Some conversions are more desirable than going from Celsius to Fahrenheit. We use the word during Lent to encourage us to focus on going from good to great. We engage in extra prayer activities to help us do this.

I remember a cute story about this type of conversion. A Pastor and Deacon wanted to evangelize this type of turn around. They made a huge banner and went to the edge of town sharing their challenge to turn around. A driver stopped on his way out of town and said, “I’m so sick of you Catholics always telling us to turn our lives around.” He drove on and there was a large crash. The Deacon turned to the Pastor and said that they probably should have put on the banner that the bridge is out.

Let’s hope our conversions have a better result.
