Who Are You?
Who are you? An interesting question. It has a different meaning depending on what word you emphasize when you ask the question. In the gospel, Jesus asked His Disciples “Who do the people say I am?” What if we asked Jesus, Who do YOU say I am?
The gospel for today, we have the story of someone wanting to get into heaven and Jesus asking “Who are you?” I’m sure we don’t want to hear Jesus saying “I don’t know who you are” as we begin navigating to our heavenly home.
Heaven is in your future. It was earned for us by Jesus and all we have to do is tell his Father we want it. And as it said on Missouri’s license plates when we tell Him we want what Jesus earned, God says “SHOW ME”! Our life of prayer, love of church and service to others shows God we want heaven. We are blessed and in the words of Fr. Bob, we have a ticket to heaven, it just needs to be punched.
