A Partridge In A Pear Tree
A little bird and not a partridge told me that Christmas is coming. I’m thinking of the Twelve Days of Christmas song and wonder what’s the deal with the partridge in a pear tree? Partridges don’t nestle in trees but in the ground like quail. But they are known for their protection of their offspring. They will sacrifice their own lives to save the lives of their offspring.
Legend has it this is about Jesus and Christmas. That makes sense since Jesus sacrificed His life for us, His children. And then the Two Turtle Doves must be the Old and New Testaments. I could go on about the other ten days but I think this is enough. So, the next time I hear that Christmas song, I will think about Jesus and His infinite love for us. Christmas is about Jesus. As you prepare for your Christmas, I know you will have a very special place for Him and this will definitely make your Christmas one to remember!
