Fr. Bob’s Spiritual Reflection – 07/15/2020
Thanks to all Teachers!
It’s just a tough time. I especially feel for parents and teachers in making decisions about school. Wish there was an easy answer, but I hope AND pray all will be safe.
That leads me to my reflection that comes from the saint whose feast we celebrate today…St. Bonaventure.
He was born Giovanni in Italy and St. Francis of Assisi named him Bonaventure which means “good fortune.” Francis was instrumental in Giovanni’s cure of a deadly illness when he was a child, hence the name meaning “good fortune.”
Bonaventure taught theology and became head of the Franciscans and later was named a Doctor of the Catholic Church. This title was bestowed on men and women who taught and enlightened the Church.
There are over fifty so named Doctors of the Church.
Today I ask you to join me in Thanking God for all the teachers He gave us to make us better people, and think of how better off we are because of them.
Remember how smart little Jimmy was because of what he learned. The teacher gave the class this question… A wealthy man dies and leaves 10 million dollars. One-fifth to his wife; one-fifth to his son; one-sixth to his butler/chef; and the rest to charity.
So what does each person get?
Jimmy raised his hand and said… “A good lawyer.”
Just a good idea to never stop learning.
Thanks to all Teachers!
