Have a Seat
Today is the feast of two of the Apostles, Philip and James. As I look at the picture of the sculpture of the Last Supper, I think of how proud and happy they must have felt to have been invited to take a seat. And it all began with a simple invitation. Jesus approached these men and merely said…Follow Me. They must have wondered what in the world this guy was thinking and what in the world they were getting into. In the midst of all the wondering, they simply followed. From what I could tell, they were not disappointed. Besides being with Jesus on that wonderful journey of love and miracles, they were able to have a seat at that great table of the Last Supper. What a gift and blessing!
I think of how we were also simply invited to follow Him and we could enjoy the journey of love and miracles. AND we are invited every day to take a seat at the table of the Last Supper in the celebration of Holy Eucharist. No need to wonder because He is there. What a gift and blessing!
