Fr. Dick’s Spiritual Reflection–03/16/2022
ST. PATRICK AND LENT
The Irish celebrate their history on St. Patrick’s Day. The Catholics celebrate their special history during Lent. And both provide great memories. Bob and I received our Catholic formation from our parents and the Vincentian Fathers and Daughters of Charity at St. Patrick’s parish in La Salle, IL. Usually we forget a lot of our early learning but Sr. Ignatia, D.C., our first grade teacher, told us that if we remember what school we attended, we would never forget the four kinds of prayer.
She said that when you remember St. Pat’s School you will immediately recognize the four kinds of prayer.
P for Petion
A for Adoration
T for Thanksgiving
S for Sorrow
She was right, 70 years later I still remember! So while the Irish celebrate St. Patty’s Day with such great joy I thank God for Sr. Ignatia. Happy St. PAT’S day!!
