Exaltation of the Holy Cross
Today we celebrate the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. This is the great symbol and sign of the Christian Church. I would guess that besides Mass, Sacraments, and praying to St. Anthony for lost articles, the next most common agreement in the Catholic Church is the use of the Sign of the Cross. We begin every spiritual exercise with this and even grace before meals.
The meaning of the cross is that we believe in the Holy Trinity, three equal persons in one God. When we say Father, we attribute creation to the Father. Son, we attribute redemption to Christ and then Holy Spirit we testify to the love between the Father and the Son.
As a special symbol, we know that the Cross also signifies the great event in the history of our Church when Christ died on the cross for our salvation. Let us thank God, all three persons for their love of us and the great gift to the Catholic Faith.
