Fr. Bob’s Spiritual Reflection- 09/21/2022
Follow the Lord.
Greetings from Emmitsburg, Maryland.
I am finishing an eight-day retreat with the Daughters of Charity here in Maryland, and I am filled with so much gratitude that I was here.
This is a great place to visit, not only with the National Shrine of Mother Seton, but it is only a few miles south to where Camp David is located, and only a few miles north to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
But on this the feast day of St. Matthew, I am reflecting on the Scripture from today’s Mass inviting us to Follow the Lord. I am moved by the dedication of the Daughters of Charity and their continued commitment to “follow the Lord.”
The Daughters participating in Retreat came from Washington, DC; Wilmington, Delaware; Albany, New York; Farmington, Michigan; Evansville, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois and probably other places that I forgot. And it didn’t matter where they were ‘missioned’, the story was the same… they were happy to follow the Lord in service of the poor.
I was challenged to be as happy as they are in their vocation. I pray you also experience the joy in “following the Lord.”
