Spiritual Reflection

Tomorrow is one of those days in our calendar year that we look forward to because we get to say thank you for how blessed we are.  I think that Thanksgiving is about the three F’s: Faith, Family and Football.

Faith, everything we have is because God let’s us have it.  We are especially grateful for faith that is seen in the parish missions conducted by Vincentian priests.  Every year we see such great faith in the people who attend these missions.  As we attend mass on Thanksgiving, we can remind ourselves there is no better way to say thank you than that.  Family, because we belong to so many: our blood family, our church family, our neighborhood, our city, our town, our country and of course God’s family to which we all belong.  We pray for peace in everyone of these.  Finally, football, there are three games on Thanksgiving so that should be enough to satisfy our hunger for entertainment!
