Fr. Dick’s Spiritual Reflection–11/9/2022
Blow the Trumpet
When I read in the Psalms about blowing the trumpet at the new moon and celebrate God’s love, justice and peace, I think of the trumpet my brother and I used to play when we were in elementary school. The picture today is the exact trumpet I used to play. I kept it all these years and finally gave it away. It provided great memories and I cherished it all these years.
Now when we toot our own horn it isn’t with a trumpet but sometimes we just want others to know something about ourselves that they don’t know. I guess, it could be bragging or maybe even a bit arrogant but when we give the credit to God for what we do, hear St. Paul “If you boast, boast in the Lord.” I thank God for those early years when life seemed so simple and so much fun. I long for those days but at the same time look today for something that is refreshing and enjoyable. Hope you do as well. So blow the trumpet, clang the symbols, strum the banjo… Cuz somebody, somewhere out there is looking for the music.
