Fr. Dick’s Spiritual Reflection–8/16/2023
Summer and Friends
I picked this picture which shows a gathering of good friends. It is about summer, golf and good times together with great people. When I look at the picture, it reminds me of how important it is to have good friends. When I see Bob, Dick, Leo, Guy, Bob, Bob, Joe and Mike it pushes me to say a big THANK YOU to God for letting all this happen. In Psalm 126 it says “What marvels the Lord worked for us, indeed we are glad.”
It is also a reminder that life is fragile and when the Lord calls us home the number of eight friends moves to seven and the number won’t increase but we continue to mourn the loss of those special people in our lives. I know you feel the same and as summer comes to an end, we reflect on the passing of loved ones. May they rest in peace. But HOPE moves us forward, the beauty of Fall arises and we enter another season that only the Good Lord can plan. Let us rejoice for the Lord is always with us and for those He calls home, they experience all the happiness and joy reserved for them.
