The Road to Emmaus
I was thinking about the two young men whom Jesus joined on the road to Emmaus. They were not distinguished in any way. They were just “normal” followers of the Lord. But isn’t it just like Jesus to give Himself completely to those unknown and undistinguished fellows?
It reminds me of that earlier time when He had talked with the woman of Samaria. She too was nameless, and utterly obscure, yet with her He had spent a long time in a saving conversation. But now the cross has come, and He has died and risen, yet He is still unchanged, for He still reveals Himself to lowly hearts like ours.
