Spiritual Reflection

This week we will celebrate the feast of the Ascension of Our Lord into Heaven.

 

It was a tough time for the disciples.  They now knew He would be gone for good and it scared them.  Loss of a loved one does that to anyone.

 

I’m thinking of the people who have lost a loved one to the Virus, especially those who could not say Goodbye.  Our prayers are for them.

 

But when Jesus left to return home it really was good for us, even if we would like Him to still be around….especially now.  You see, He believed that He could put His dream in our hands.  That confidence in us and His promise of The Spirit is all we need.

 

We just need to say “Yes, count on Me.”  So we may not have to say “Goodbye”, but just “So Long Until We Meet Again.” 

 

This week also marks a very special day in the life of the Parish Mission Team…..May 23rd.  It is Fr. Dick’s 50th anniversary of his ordination.  We won’t be able to celebrate on that day because of the Virus.  So the celebration has been postponed until September 13, 2020.  Please remember him this Saturday.  Also sneak in a prayer for Fr. Mike Mulhearn as well (it is his anniversary of ordination too). 

 

I will remember Dick and Mike again next year on May 23rd when I celebrate my 50th anniversary of ordination with a Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church in Darien, IL.
