Fr. Bob’s Spiritual Reflection – 08/30/2017
2 Thessalonians 3:10…”He who will not work, should not eat.”
Monday is Labor Day and we will remember all those who work very hard. What an appropriate time to remember all those who are working hard to help all those who are suffering in Texas and Louisiana. And what a good time to ask God to be with all those who are helping and also those who are suffering.
Every weekend this summer, I have been traveling to Michigan to say Mass and because of the Federal Holiday coming up, I stopped to pay attention…
…needed gas and the convenience store cashier couldn’t have been nicer
…passed a garbage truck and witnessed people working hard to clean the city
…stayed in a hotel and the desk clerks and the maids were so welcoming and helpful.
I was quite sure that all these people, who didn’t make a lot of money, would have loved to win the lottery and quit their jobs like the nurse in Massachusetts. But each of these people work hard to make a difference…and they do.
I’m glad I stopped to pay attention…..This weekend, on this National Holiday, stop, pay attention,
and to those who work hard, offer those often forgotten words…..THANK YOU!
