Mary’s Birthday
Today we celebrate the feast day of the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary. What a great day it had to be for her parents, Joachim and Anne, who didn’t think they would ever have a baby. I think of the joy any parent has at the birth of a child but this birth of the mother of Jesus brings joy to all Christians. She has become the real connection to God for so many people and today is that special day to remember her.
My thoughts are wondering what Jesus gave her for her birthday, or what Joseph or her parents gave her. Wonder if there were parties? But today I’m thinking of what gift I could give Mary on her birthday and it is this: She would like it to be a tribute to her son. She always pointed to him and so the more I try to be like him, the more she would appreciate that gift. Celebrate her birthday with your gift!
