Alleluia, Alleluia!

Not the gospel yet but it is Good News.  I’m in Kansas as I have been invited to a special celebration on Sunday.  It happens to be one that I am a part of, and so grateful to God that I am.  Okay so you know…my brother and I are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of our priesthood at Nativity Church in Leawood, Kansas at 1pm on Sunday.  We are filled with so much gratitude for all the blessings God has bestowed on us for so many years.  And the blessings are because so many people have cherished our priesthood, especially our love of the Eucharist.  We are thrilled that so many people want to celebrate with us at the Eucharist, whether that be here in Kansas; or with Dick in Pueblo, Colorado; or with me in Darien, Illinois; or with both of us again at a Parish Mission in our home town of LaSalle, Illinois.  Each celebration has the Eucharist as the central piece and for that we are “Eucharistic…very Thankful to God.”

The Gospel for today did speak to our Priesthood.  Jesus sent the Twelve to proclaim the Kingdom of God and heal the sick.  We have especially done that in our Vincentian Parish Mission Apostolate.  Jesus said the Twelve should not worry about food or money etc.  And we didn’t because you have always been there for us and with grateful hearts, we say “Thank You.”
