It’s playoff time in baseball. Hope your team is in and has a chance to get to the World Series. If you have no team to cheer for, use mine…the White Sox! I’m thinking about how these playoffs happen after a very long season of competition and it may come down to just a game or two to get in to become the best.
What about playoffs with Churches in a city or diocese? We could use this time now after the pandemic to see who got the most people to come back to church. We could see who had some creative ideas to make it happen. We could declare a winner but the whole church would win if some ideas were gathered to bring folks back. Obviously, that is my concern as the numbers have dropped off and God can’t be smiling about that. I’m sure he misses his children celebrating with Him in Church on the weekend. October was always the month where attendance was noted for annual report. I pray it’s not too bad. I pray people come back.
Remember when the prodigal son returned to his father? The only one who was sorry he returned was…the fatted calf. Everybody else was happy for the return. Lord, make it happen!
