Spiritual Reflection

Oh how life can be so simple.  Conducting a parish mission here in Wallis, Texas has given me a glimpse of the simplicity of life.  Here there is no country club, no golf course, no theater, no large park, no Target or Walmart.  As a matter of fact, the only store is a Dollar General.  But there is simple joy of life and it’s in the people themselves.  Like at church, it is a given to stay after mass and meet with others, just to see how everyone is doing and people enjoy this.

At the mission, half the congregation drove several miles from other parishes and they felt so welcomed and at home.  Simple gestures of “I’m glad you came” bring so much joy.  It’s very simple.  There is a sculpture outside of church that says it all.  Jesus sitting at the table (like Last Supper) waiting for his guests.  And there is a seat for all…because All are Welcome!
