Praying for World Peace
December 7, 1941…Eighty-one years ago we survived an attack on Pearl Harbor that killed over 2,300 Americans. Somehow the world doesn’t seem to learn from its mistakes. We should have learned a lesson from World War I and then World War II would never have happened.
One thing is for certain, the men and women who lost their lives and the thousands who put their lives on the line everyday so we can be free should never be on a forgotten list. We owe them at least a commitment of profound gratitude. I thank God that we try to help all the wounded soldiers and their families. Surely, they deserve this.
The picture for this reflection is a flag that was flown over the USS Arizona in Hawaii in 1985. It was given to Fr. Frank Crowley, CM and the Vincentian Parish Mission Center. It is a reminder that we will never forget our Veterans. Let us also pray that all wars will end and Peace will reign.
