God Always Wins
Hi! I have a friend who has the annoying (according to me) pastime of watching wrestling on television. Not real high school, collegiate or Olympic wrestling, but staged “pro” wrestling. I asked her why she watches that stuff and she said it was entertaining, had suspense, and spectacular scenes.
I thought about what she said in the context of looking up a couple things in the book of Revelation. I found her view of pro wrestling and my reading of Revelation similar in that both had suspense and spectacular scenes (staged as they might be). But there was another major similarity that happened to strike me. The outcomes of both are pre-determined!
No matter how much suspense, no matter how many spectacular scenes there happen to be, or for us Catholics, no matter how many trials we “wrestle” with in this life, we know how it all ends. Someone knows who’s going to win the wrestling match, and God tells us in Revelation who’s going to win the fight with evil.
“He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:5)
