Fr. Dick’s Spiritual Reflection–2/28/2024
Our Lenten Journey
I flew back to St. Louis yesterday and had to go through Houston, TX to get home. The flight to Houston was an interesting adventure. The flight attendants had to remain seated for the duration of the flight due to turbulence. Of course, this meant no complimentary beverages. Between the bumps, crowded airplane and no cup of coffee, this was a bit annoying. While I was beginning to think about a “poor me” I reflected on the picture above. My inconvenience was no way near to what Jesus suffered for me. And he didn’t complain.
The purple cloth around the crucified Christ in the picture tells us it is Lent, a time to remember what Jesus did for me. While the flight was distressful it had a great ending. We arrived safely, I was able to ask God for forgiveness and the flight attendants didn’t have to work serving us drinks. Sometimes what seems to be so awful really isn’t that bad especially in comparison to what Our Lord endured during his Lenten journey. Say a special prayer for all those who follow us on our website. God Bless you!
